From 10 June to 9 October 2022 (2nd year), the «Kimolos Experience» Festival continues the tradition of the «Kimolia Gi»!
Meet us on the emerald island of Kimolos!
The «Kimolos Experience» Festival started in 2021. Its organization is the continuation of the ten-year effort of the volunteer team «Kimolistes Ngo» having as a sole target to promote the Kimolian culture and tradition; the special heritage of a blessed place belonging to the complex of the Western Cyclades. The area of the island is 36 sq. kilometers and the length of the coastline is 38 kilometers with bays and picturesque islets.
Kimolos is famous for its unique ecosystem, the spectacular beaches with sand and pebbles as well as the sea caves on the exotic Polyaigos island where the Mediterranean seal Monachus monachus and the sea turtle Caretta Caretta can be seen.
The «Kimolos Experience» Festival proposes events that strengthen the bonds with the local community and upgrade the attractions of the Kimolian culture and are offered free of charge.
CINE-KALISPERITIS
The open-air cinema Cine Kalisperitis awarded by the European Union with the 1st Prize in the category of “Sustainable Cultural Tourism” ECTN Awards 2021, consists the island’s point of reference. Organized screenings take place, at the Medieval Castle of Chorio, on the most stunning beaches of Kimolos, as well as on Polyaigos island with lanterns and torches under the starry sky. Visitors and islanders live the ultimate cinema experience once or twice a week whenever the Aegean winds allow it.
Musical events, speeches on the 7th Art including the audience’s interaction with the creators-directors, theatrical performances, workshops on Kimolian traditions, local gastronomy, the dissemination of book reading, artistic events intertwined with the environment and the promotion of environmental awareness both to youngs and adults. Hikes on unspoiled paths, lead to unexpected geological formations such as the famous Skiadi. Routes overlooking to threshing floors, vineyards, cisterns, a primitive landscape that invites you to discover it with a view to the endless blue of the Aegean Sea.

In order to avoid the spread of Covid-19 and to ensure public health, we faithfully follow the observance of health protocols during the events of the «Kimolos Experience» Festival 2022. The events will be held in open spaces following all the necessary measures and will be held in accordance with the decrees and relevant guidelines of the Greek Ministry of Health.
