Agatha Rodi the member of our Volunteer Team “Kimolistes” NGO participated with her book “A Young Kimolistas” on Sunday 11/12/2022 at 16: 30 -17: 30m.m at the Cultural Center “Hellenic cosmos” (of IME) at Pireos 254 in Tavros, in the International Conference in Athens on Early Childhood Development, either online or in person. Our presentation was under the title “Storytelling inspiration with interactive engagement – Live Demonstration on a rigid heddle loom of Kimolos’ Aegean Island!
We had the opportunity to talk about how to approach storytelling through reading with techniques that help and motivate young readers to discover it; so that young readers can experience reading a story as the motivation for developing critical thinking, enriching vocabulary, improving learning difficulty and reading fluency in combination with painting and the use of online material for the transition to the written word. Sofia Mitraki a theater educator / play therapist, founder of Thisisusgr – everything for children and parents, https://www.facebook.com/thisisus.gr and the Kimolian weaver Yiota Serifiou -Fibra Fibra https://www.facebook.com/2fibrafibra gave us a great presentation about the “Kimoliatiko surtari”, the colorful laces for the traditional bags, the “dorvades” and answered all the questions of the participants about the art of weaving, with a simultaneous demonstration of her loom.
The conference was addressed to early childhood educators and health and education specialists and included 3 dynamic modules:
(1) for typically developing children 0-5 years old
(2) for children with autism spectrum disorder & special educational needs
(3) for carers of children aged 0-5 years
70 + leading international experts in early childhood presented the latest scientific data in the field of Child Development & care.
The 1st International Exhibition Voices of Children was hosted and included works & messages of children 3-6 years old from 13 countries.
